TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By submitting entries into the Tompkins Wake Rotorua Business Awards, you are agreeing to the following:
  1. You declare that the information provided in your entry is a true and correct reflection of your organisation.
  2. That should you be a finalist in the Tompkins Wake Rotorua Business Awards you agree to the use of your company name and photographs of the event being used for promotional activities of the Rotorua Business Chamber.
Terms and conditions of Entry
  • Entry will be by nomination. Any person or organisation can nominate any entrant. Self-nomination is entirely acceptable.
  • Finalists of all categories will be announced on the 8th August. The category winners and the Supreme Winner will be announced at the main Awards Gala event.
  • The fact that you have entered the Awards will be treated as confidential until the announcement of finalists.
  • At the judge’s discretion, an entrant may be transferred to another category that they believe best fits the entrant. If a transfer is made, the entrant will be notified.
  • At the judge’s discretion, special commendations may be awarded where deemed appropriate.
  • Any sole proprietor, partnership, incorporated society, limited liability company, limited partnership, educational institution, local or central government organisation, charitable or not for profit organisation, with its principal place of business based and trading in the Rotorua region within the boundaries administered by the Rotorua Business Chamber is eligible to enter the awards.
  • Any business owned by a sponsor of the Tompkins Wake Rotorua Business Awards can enter any category they are normally eligible to enter excluding the category which they are a sponsor of.
  • An organisation that is part of a larger national or international organisation or franchise must be able to demonstrate that it operates as a separate business unit.
  • Applicants must disclose any issues that may compromise the integrity of the awards or cause their organisation to stop trading or operating in the 12 months following entry. These issues may include legal action, law changes, possible loss of funding, restructuring, or refinancing or other risks.
  • All entrants must agree to take part in publicity, within reason, as requested by the category sponsor, Tompkins Wake, or the Rotorua Business Chamber. As part of the application process, entrants’ consent to their photographs being used for promotional and/ or sales purposes.
  • As part of the application process, entrants’ consent to the possible disclosure of their personal contact information by the Rotorua Business Chamber to the Tompkins Wake Rotorua Business Awards sponsors. This information may be used by sponsors for promotional and/ or sales purposes.
  • All entries will be reviewed by the judging panel and are highly likely have a site visit and an interview.
  • All entrants and finalists are encouraged to attend the Tompkins Wake Rotorua Business Awards Gala Evening. This is a formal black-tie, sit-down dinner event during which the awards ceremony is held, and the winners are announced.
  • Entrants may use consultants or other outside assistance to help them prepare their entries. However, the providers of any such external assistance cannot be present during any part of the judging process.
  • If selected as a finalist in any Excellence category progression to the next stage will be subject to entrants supplying a copy of their last year’s full financial accounts, This will be done confidentially and the accounts will be sent to an independent accountant. If you prefer not to provide your full set of financial accounts, then a spreadsheet will be sent to you requesting specific data from your annual accounts. It is a condition of entry to meet this request. (Please note that the financial accounts will only be reviewed by an independent accountant in confidence, who will provide approval of the entrants financial viability only. No information will be made available to any person).
  • Excellence category finalists will also be asked to provide a 3 minute video giving answers to a small set of questions, which will be provided well in advance. This is to facilitate selection of the Supreme Business Award winner.
  • The winner of the Supreme Business Award will be chosen by the judges from all the Excellence Award category winners using the scores from the category judging process and the answers to the questions given in the 3 minute video. 
  • All entry content is treated in confidence. Judges are required to sign a confidentiality agreement that prevents them from sharing any information in relation to entrants outside of the judging process.
  • Judges will not participate in the judging of any organisation where they are a shareholder, director or employee of, or where an actual or potential conflict of interest arises.
  • Judges will not participate in the judging of any other entrants in a category where they are conflicted as above.
  • Entry submissions will be archived on this online portal at the completion of the judging process.
  • The judges’ decision is final and no communications will be entered into.
  • Entrants are required to submit their application in a digital format via the TWBA website entry portal.
